Welcome to the flock!Pigeon Person

Hello everyone,

I wanted to thank you all for the love and support shown in this group and apologise for my absence over the last couple of months. Without going into too much detail, I have sadly suffered a bereavement of someone very close to me, and so many things in my personal life have taken a hiatus. Including this incredible movement. However, behind the scenes there has been some movement and I have recently met with a charity commission organisation to support me in opening donations for our cause. In other news, the incredible Darcy and Luna Designs has collaborated with us on a beautiful card in Penny's honour. I want you to know that myself and Trustees are slowly picking things up again and to watch this space for plenty more pigeon love and how we are going to be moving forward.

Love and support from all the caring people that wonderful YOU have brought together ❤️

Hello all!

I’m a 16 year old living in the uk and I love pigeons!

I rescued one who was hit by a van, he made a full recovery and is now (hopefully) living freely. I wanted to know, is there any way I can help to rescue local pigeons?

Hello Olive! Great to hear about the pigeon you rescued. I have been handfeeding orphaned baby birds since I was a child, and honestly the best way to help out is to get well known in your local community as everyone's go-to girl when a pigeon is in need. So many folks see an animal in distress and bring them in, put them in a box, with a bit of bread or cereal, and hope... If they know there's someone they can take it to with a bit of knowledge to improve it's chances of survival, they're going to take it!

I read the Amateur Naturalist by Gerald Durrell, too, which helped a lot, plus you've got us all here at P'sP.A to ask questions, and trust me, there's no such thing as a silly question. Watch out for ticks on disoriented pigeons (actually one of my very first cases was a fledgling collared dove with a tick who happily made a full recovery) There will be heartache, but it's worth it to know you've made a difference to a little life. Good luck Olive! Your flock is all around you 🐦

Hi everyone! Here is my story-

My name is Maddie. I started a small business and a not offical non profit called Pigeon Patroll ( I still spell Patroll with 2 L’s), to help birds when I was 8 years old. I started Pigeon Patroll at my old home in Layton, Utah in 2020.

Early in the year of 2020, there were two pigeons that started to come around everyday. I named them Molly and Peter. In February 2020, we figured out that Molly and Peter had built a nest between two of our huge plant pots. Molly had laid two perfect and white eggs.

The eggs hatched and I named the two baby pigeons Cuckoo and Coco Puff. Everyday I would sit in front of the glass door and watch the pigeons for hours. I wrote everything I learned from them in a journal. Watching Cuckoo and Coco Puff…

Hey Maddie, Pigeon Patroll sounds amazing! I love the bird magnets you're making, and it's great that you've been able to raise so much money for bird charities ❤️ 🙂
